What it takes to be a Successful Animator

In a struggle to visually illustrate stories, humans have introduced several methods since creation. The earliest history of animation can be traced back to the Paleolithic cave paintings. Since then, the technological field has grown immensely and so has the animation sector. At present, cutting-edge animation courses in Chandigarh can be found.

The pioneers of Indian animation

The relevant history of animation in India is reflected back to 1956 when Films Division of India in Mumbai invited Disney Studios’ animator Clair Weeks – who worked on Snow White (1937), Bambi (1942) and Cinderella (1950) – to train and establish country’s first animation studio as part of the American Technical Co-Operation mission. On his visit, Clair trained India’s first core group of animators, which went on to release country’s first animated project called The Banyan Deer the following year. Veteran animator Ram Mohan, also known as father of Indian animation, was one of them.

Since then, the Indian animators found great success in the sector with the likes of Ishu Patel, who is working at the National Film Board of Canada; Sindhuja Rajamaran, a Guinness World Record holder who became the youngest CEO of a Chennai-based animation company named Seppan; and Vanitha Rangaraju-Ramanan, who was part of the team wining 2002 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for movie Shrek.

Along with the individuals, the animation sector has also seen a sudden acclivity in the past five years. In the past five years, India has released more than two-third of its total animation projects.

All these success stories took years of practice, creativity, vision and leadership by good mentors. There are several institutes that can help you be a part of this fertile industry. Every leading animation institute offers a variety of courses, including 3D Animation Courses, VFX Courses, Graphic Design and Multimedia, Gaming Design Course, and many more.

Everything About Animation Technology

It is often breathtaking to witness dexterity of an alien in a film, although knowing that none of it is real. The concept giving features, personality and movements to that alien is known as animation. The literal meaning of computer animation is to give life to an object or a static image. The animator gives movements and personality to such an image or object with the help of certain animating software and tools.

History of animation

Animation was conceptualized in circa 1910. Without the wonders of technology, animation was considered to be laborious as close to 100 drawings have to be made by hand for any film.  The first animation film, Steamboat Willie, hit the theater in 1928, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) became the first full length animated film.

Some of the most popularized cartoon figures, such as Lion King, were hand drawn. During early ages, a technique known as in between was used for rendering the effects of motion on a set of sketches.

Types of animation

Two common types of computer animation are computer-generated and computer-assisted. Both the types hold significance in creating specific kinds of animation.

  •  A computer-assisted animating technique is apt for creating two-dimensional (2-D) figures such as cartoons. In the computer-assisted technique, the animator draws characters and objects either by computer or hand. This task is followed by animator positioning the drawn creations over key frames. Finally, the computer uses several complex algorithms to fill the frames (in-betweens); this process is known as tweening.
  • Computer-generated animated technique is a whole new ball game. The technique is suited for creating three-dimensional (3D) objects. The computer-generated animating does not require traditional techniques; however, tweening and key-framing play a significant role in this technique too.
Animation, as a career option, has grown by leaps and bounds; thus, several animation institutes have popped out. Nowadays, every institute claims to be the best animation institute in Chandigarh, however, the reality is far from that. An animation institution becomes the best animation institute in Chandigarh whenever it incorporates all the latest developments in animation in its course module. Choose the leading institutes for studying animation courses in Chandigarh.
